FAQ
If your query isn’t covered below, drop me a line.
Do I need to bring anything to a Shiatsu or Reiki session?
You are welcome to bring any item such as a blanket, or socks, that would help you feel more comfortable.
What should I wear?
Wear comfortable loose fitting clothes, ideally long-sleeves and trousers. Reiki is mostly off the body, and Shiatsu is given through a light cloth so there is rarely skin-to-skin contact.
How do you ensure the space is hygienic?
I use a fresh sheet and a tenugui (Japanese face cloth) for each client.
What should I do after the session?
Ideally, take yourself to a quiet space where you can reflect on the session and anything that came up for you.
Do I need Reiki or Shiatsu?
If you are unsure, please book a free 15 minute consultation. We can discuss your current health picture, and the support you need to meet your aims.
How many sessions do I need?
This depends on your current health picture and your aims. We can discuss additional sessions after your first appointment.
Are home visits possible?
Yes, providing you have a quiet space and are able to lie down comfortably. Home visits incur a small charge to account for my travel time.
What if I need to cancel or postpone?
For a full refund, notify me no less than 24 hours prior to your appointment to postpone, or to cancel. Changing appointments less than 24 hours means I cannot avail your slot to others, therefore incurs a 50% session fee (postponement) or 100% fee (cancellation).
Can I invest in a package of sessions?
Packages are available for Shiatsu and Reiki sessions, or invest in a mix of both. It depends how many you wish to book – please enquire.
How do I connect with you for a Virtual or Distance session?
I use Skype and WhatsApp to connect with you for both of these session types.
Can I have Reiki and Shiatsu rather than visiting my GP?
Reiki and Shiatsu are excellent for treating the root cause of dis-ease, however they are no replacement for Western medicine. I am a firm believer in embracing both Western and Eastern medicine to support our health and well-being.
Do you give sessions to children?
Yes this is possible – the legal guardian must sign a consent form and be present for the session.
What qualifications do you have?
I studied three years for the Professional Shiatsu Practitioner Diploma, with The Shiatsu College. Usui Reiki Master training was completed with experienced Reiki teacher, Tina Shaw.
I also hold qualifications in Qi Gong, Shinrin Yoku, and Holistic Acupressure. All training was completed in the UK except for 50 hour Yin Yoga Teacher Training (certified by the Yoga Alliance) which I studied in Goa, India. Read more…
Are you insured?
I am insured by Balens.
Are you a member of any professional organisations?
Yes, the Shiatsu Society (SS) which is the largest professional Shiatsu organiaton in the UK, of which I am a Board Director. The SS UK is internationally respected and recognised for providing the way to professionalism of the highest standard.
Are there Terms and Conditions I should be aware of?
Full payment is required before a session by PayPal, or cash for in-person sessions. Part payments are not accepted.

About Me
I founded SJA Holistics to help people get well, feel great, and stay well using the power of practices derived from Eastern Medicine including Shiatsu, Reiki, Acupressure and Qi Gong.
For over a decade I’ve worked with Ki and have first-hand experience of how energy- and body-work can lead to positive health. Working with the energy body as well as the physical can bring profound changes to mental, emotional and physical issues.
After completing three years of study for the Professional Shiatsu Diploma, I honed my experience working voluntarily for six months in a national UK charity giving Shiatsu to people recovering from substance misuse.
It is my mission to help you recognise your own self-healing ability and to empower you with the skills and knowledge you need to dramatically improve your self-care.
My Approach
We create your current health picture. Then we get clear on your goals so that we are aligned from the outset. This makes it easier to monitor progress.
Intelligent Energy
Every one of us has a universal energy, also known as lifeforce, chi, prana and Ki, that underpins our whole existence, and within that, our health. Stimulating the flow of Ki is how you can get well, feel great and stay well.
